Are you a credit union member? Do you know someone who could be a member but isn’t? While credit union membership is on the rise, there are still many people who are reluctant to join because they harbor misinformation about being or becoming a member. Let’s dispel some of the misconceptions people have about their friendly neighborhood credit unions.
Eligibility
Credit unions have some requirements for membership, but they’re a far cry from the exclusivity of a yacht-riding, golf-club-swinging country club. True, your ability to join a credit union may depend on where you live, your profession or even your religious affiliation, but there are so many credit unions, your chances of meeting the criteria of at least one is very high. For example, you can become a member of Vantage if you have a direct family member as a member, or if you live or work in a number of Missouri or Illinois counties.
